Save our historic Gold Rush Architecture
Help preserve our cherished 170-year-old historic schoolhouse so that future generations can celebrate our Gold Rush legacy.

The Douglas Flat Schoolhouse has been a symbol of resilience and community spirit since the Gold Rush, serving seven generations. This historic building near Angels Camp and Murphys was constructed in 1854. It provides a unique venue not just for education but for weddings, parties, memorials, and special community events.
Today, we stand at a critical juncture in the life of this iconic structure, and we need your support to preserve it. A non-profit corporation owns the School and donations are tax deductible.
A Rich Legacy at Risk
The Douglas Flat School is a living testament to Gold Rush architecture, showcasing the enduring beauty of classic Greek Revival-style design. The passage of time has taken its toll on this beloved landmark. The construction methods of the era, coupled with wear and tear of decades, have left the building in dire need of attention.
Our most pressing concern is a solid foundation to secure the future of this cherished venue, followed by less pressing historic preservation treatments for the flooring, belfry, doors, windows, and exterior painting.
